40.-Traffic Signs, etc., $3,000. To meet the cost of such traffic signs and
guide lines as are considered necessary by the Police Department.
41.-Street Name Plates, $5,000.-To cover the expenditure required for
the provision of new name plates.
42.-Wongneichong Development, $35,000. To continue the development of access roads in this district where domestic building is taking place.
43.-North Point Reclamation, Sewer Extension, $5,000. To continue work on the extension of the existing main sewer and stormwater drains so that the outfalls can be extended up to the line of the finished reclamation.
44.-Chai Wan Cemetery Extension-Development, $5,000.-To provide
for the necessary extension to this cemetery.
45.-Rewiring of Government Buildings. $22,000. To replace wiring in Government Buildings which it is now considered unsafe from a fire point of view.
46.-Chinese Cemeteries-Laying out new Areas, $6,000.—To provide for
additional burial areas in the existing cemeteries.
47.-Bathing Shed at Kennedy Town for Government Schools, $1,200.-- To provide bathing facilities for pupils attending Government Schools.
48. Tsan Yuk Hospital-Additions and Alterations, $20,000.-It is pro- posed to increase the height of portion of this building in order to give additional accommodation for nursing staff.
49.-Botanical Gardens-Laying of Albany Site, $5,000.-This area is now a portion of the Botanical Gardens and it is proposed to lay it out in turf with paved footways.
50.-Air Raid Precautions, $200,000.-For allocation as considered neces-
sary by the Air Raid Precautions Department.
51,-No. 2 Police Station-Switchboard, $1,500.-The existing telephone switchboard is now almost fully utilised and as further extensions will be required in the near future a new switchboard is considered necessary.
52.-Victoria Peak, Improvements to Layout, $3,200.-To allow for clear- ing and leveiling the Eyrie Site; levelling and surfacing various rough paths and providing seats.
53. Kowloon Hospital, Nurses' Quarters-Grilles, $2,000.—To meet the expense of erecting grilles to the ground floor of the Nurses' Quarters. 54.-New Kowloon Cemetery, No. 7, Customs Pass, $40,000.—To develop a further extension to this Cemetery. Expenditure will be principally on the formation of burial spaces, access paths and stormwater channels.
55.-Hammer Hill Urning Ground, $5,000. The present urning ground on Aplichau Island is nearing saturation and it is proposed to replace it by opening this new ground at Hammer Hill.

Sub-head 56.-Recreation Grounds, $3,000.-To complete the new Recreation
Ground to the west of the Polo Ground at Boundary Street. item was referred to under S.H. 73 in last year's Notes on Estimates.
57.-Repairs to Seawall and Road at Lai Chi Kok, $4,000. For payment of retention money in connection with these repairs which were necessary owing to damage done to this seawall and road by the typhoon in 1936.

58.-Cheung Chau, Compensation for realignment of houses, $4,800.-In order to comply with the town planning layout of Cheung Chau, the resumption of portions of certain property is necessary.
59.-Incinerators for Police Stations, $2,500.-Incinerators for the destruc-
tion of rubbish are required at the following Police Stations :—
Ping Shan, Castle Peak, Au Tau, Lok Ma Chau, Sheung Shui, Tai Po, Ta Ku Ling, Lin Ma Hang, Sha Tau Kok, Sai Kung and Sha Tin.
60. Tai Po Clerks' Quarters, Mosquito Proofing, $2,750.-To mosquito
proof these Quarters.
61.—Tai Po Land Bailiff's Quarters, Instal Flush System, $950.—To replace
the existing system by a modern one.
62.-Ping Shan Land Bailiff's Quarters, Instal Flush System, $750.-To
replace the existing system by a modern one.
PORT WORKS.
63.-North Point, Reclamation Extension, $10,000.-To provide for the extension of the sea wall on purt of the existing rubble mound. This wall is to protect dumping already carried out and provide a further area for the deposition of building debris.
64.-Kennedy Town, Construction of sea wall and cattle pier, $1,550.—
To complete the work.
65. Alteration to Fire Float Berth at Jubilee Street and repairs to King Shan Wharf, $1,000.-To provide additional berthing facilities. 66.-Extension of Reclamation from Jubilee Street Pier to Pottinger Street Pier, $150,000,-To commence a reclamation to the east of the Vehicular Ferry Pier which in addition to providing increased berthing accommodation will enlarge the concourse area.
67.-Repairs to decking of Nullahs at Kai Tak, $7,000.-Owing to the action of the weather on the under side of the decking covering portions of the three Nullahs underneath Kai Tak Aerodrome, the reinforcement has been exposed.
68.-Kun Tong Refuse Dump, $34,000.-To provide for the extension of the sea wall on part of the already existing rubble mound. The wall is to protect dumping already carried out and to provide a further area for the deposition of City refuse.
BUILDINGS ORDINANCE.
69.-Compensation and Resumptions, $32,000.-To cover expenditure in connection with the resumption of private property fronting on roads which either require widening on realignment.
ANTI-MALARIAL WORKS.
70.—Anti-Malarial Works, $55,000.-To continue the training of stream courses and draining of swamps to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.
